MSD ProData and Windows 8.1
« on: October 18, 2014, 05:54:37 PM »
Wondering if anyone has had issues getting a laptop running windows 8.1 to communicate with an MSD box running the pro data software. I know most people are upgrading to the MSD grid, but thought there was a way to get this software to work with 8.1. I have followed the MSD instructions here:

When I get to step 17, I only have an unknown device, no MSD virtual port or whatever. Anyway, when I attempt to manually install the driver for the box via the MSD file, I'm told that there isn't a file. I've already installed from the download on MSD's website to verify that my disk isn't outdated.

For reference, I'm using the 6530 box.

Do you have the serial to usb cable that's windows 8 compliant. I ran into the same problem using a cheap one. I had to buy a cable that had some chip in it . They'll show the recommended cable on msd site. I found it cheap on ebay for 15 bucks
