Dyno Domís Sikeston Dragstrip was hosting the Olympics of Drag Radial class last night. Purse guarantee at 1,000 for first with a minimum of 10 cars. The night had the track crew that was not normal. Friends Roger and Jared was not there in the normal spots. Jared was getting married to Mrs Lonnia Zellers we would like to Congratulate them in their endeavors.
First round qualifying found Dan Saitz sitting number one with a 5.485 and Steve Richards sitting second with a 5.540 had a total of 9 cars make the call. While sitting in the lanes Johnny Inman discovers he has no low gear. Bringing the class count down to 8.
Second round of qualifying at Dyno Domís Dragway found Sikestonís own Daniel Pharris sitting in the number one spot with 5.382 and Bruce Shoemake sitting in the number 2 spot with a 5.390. So after the final round of qualifying numbers were Daniel Pharris 5.382 with Bruce Shoemake 5.390 Dan Saitz 5.485 Steve Richards Cecil Whitaker Justin Fowler 5.916 Kevin Leutert 5.991 Van Burgess with a 6.277. After pairing them up in the lanes at Dyno Domís first round found Cecil Whitaker taking the win over Daniel Pharris, with Pharris having some transmission issues left on foot brake loosing to Cecil Whitaker on a whole shot. The next pairing brought Dan Saitz with the win over Kevin Leutert next pair brought out the number two qualifier Bruce Shoemake over Justin Fowler Last pair of first round was Van Burgess over Steve Richards with a competition bye run. Low ET of the round was a 5.14 posted by Daniel Pharris.
Second round pairings brought out Cecil Whitaker and Dan Saitz with Dan taking the win over Cecil with a low ET of the meet with a 5.082. The second pair was Van Burgess taking the win light over Justin Folwer with Van running 5.334. Which set up our final round with Van Burges and Dan Saitz.
Final round was two turbo cars which qualified numbers 3 Dan Saitz taking the win over number 8 qualifier Van Burges both gentlemen were trying to put a show on for the crowd both left the line almost dead even with Vanís .436 light against Danís .437 at the 60 foot mark Dan had the slightest margin of a 1.375 over Vanís 1.388. When the smoke settled and the flames from the bullhorns had went out it showed on the boards that Dan Saitz would take the win over Van with a slowing 5.230 to Vanís 5.77.
With the car count no being at the minimum Dom and Teri still paid the full amount 1,000 to the winner and 200 second place. I want to thank Dyno Dom and track crew for allowing us to have a place to race. So come next month June the 8th 2013 will be the next scheduled race at Dyno Domís Sikeston Dragway.
