Drag Racing Chat / Chatroom
« Last post by NeverTrustaMidget on July 14, 2019, 02:53:07 PM »
Have been doing some work in the Memphis Racing History page both the Facebook page and the website.

In the days before Facebook, we had forums such as this one and we had chatrooms.

My primary purpose for the chatroom would be able to have one on one interviews with people who have made a significant mark on the history of racing in the Memphis area.

But it is a waste to have the room to go unused the majority of the time.

Looking for input as to if anyone would be interested in having a weekly scheduled chat session.

If so I will set aside time for General Race chat and then a time for each particular form of racing.

The forum of racing with the most interest will, of course, get their first choice when it comes to a particular night for their chat. Just because I have a history in Dirt track does not mean that dirt track will automatically get the first choice in chat nights. The first choice of nights must be earned and it will go to the form which has the most interest in having a chat session.

Please stop by the Facebook page and give your input on this subject.
Drag Racing Chat / Generations
« Last post by NeverTrustaMidget on June 21, 2019, 11:53:04 PM »
We are in the process of attempting to list ALL Memphis area racing families who have at least two generations competing in the Memphis area.

Please stop by the Memphis Racing HIstory Facebook page and add the names of your family members who have raced.  Their position in the family ie: grandfather, father, son, grandson etc.....

Also, list the facility in which they competed.

The year they competed.

And the class of vehicle they competed.

Help us to document the history of Memphis racing and those who helped to keep the sport going in the Memphis area.

Gary Bell had to be transported by ambulance to the hospital yesterday from the dragstrip.

He has had some kind of heart related medical issue, but I am not aware of the specifics.

Please pray for his recovery!

Thank you

Please be safe this Memorial Day!

Drag Racing Chat / Re: Nominations open for Memphis SPorts Hall of Fame

Submitted the name of Raymond Godman for induction. Included as much information as was publically available. If anyone has any information which is not widely know that would benefit his chances to be included in the inaugural class please submitted it to the Hall of Fame.
Drag Racing Chat / Nominations open for Memphis SPorts Hall of Fame
« Last post by NeverTrustaMidget on April 02, 2019, 03:31:44 PM »
Nomination for the inaugural class in the Memphis Sports Hall of Fame is now open. Anyone who is a current or former resident of Memphis may nominate one person annually using the official nomination form. The nomination will remain active for 5 years.

Since nominations will heavily lean toward the stick and ball sports I strongly suggest those who wish to nominate someone to the new Memphis Sports Hall of Fame limit ourselves to one of two candidates so we do not dilute our position. My recommendations would be Raymond Godman and Clarence "Hooker" Hood. Both played a major factor in the history of Memphis motorsports and are Members of their sports National Hall of Fame.

To us, in the motorsports community, all our heroes in our minds belong in some form of Hall of Fame. But fans of other sports feel the same about every star in their community. Motorsports is not as widely followed in the mainstream sports media as the others. So we are fighting an uphill battle from the start. So we must concentrate our efforts in a unified effort. In order to do that we must focus mainly on the most influential members of our community. I do believe the two names I suggested are the two most influential names in their particular forms of motorsports in Memphis history.

The application can be found at
